No at the time few knew the towers would collapse as they did. Some engineers watching may have thought it might happen, but it was only a guess.

The towers fell or rather collapsed because of a basic design flaw. The steal support beams in the heat buckled and as they did the moved away from the outside of the building and started to sag inward. When on floor completely pulled away it failed or fell causing the rest to follow.

Many building were built in the same manner as the twin towers and many have been retrofitted to prevent this from happening, or so it is hoped.

The Towers survived the initial impact of the planes hitting them. They stood. Even though they were only designed for the impact of a Boeing 707, the largest aircraft at the time of building. The resulting fire, high temperatures and basic design flaw caused the towers to collapse.

Yeah, someone IS lying, all the conspiracy nutjobs and anti-war fruits who are willing to do anything, say anything to bring down this country. What is a little lie compared with bringing down(in their very tiny minds) the greatest evil ever imagined, America.
