why is there a quicksand? and all those people and things that gets trapped and sinked in where did it all go? did they ever re-surface in a thousand years or they just stayed under? and did a quicksand hardens or will it really stay that way? what causes it? and how can you determine if a ground/sand/mud is a quicksand?

Carry a beach-ball (inflatable) in your pocket or pack. If you fall into quicksand, you can inflate this and since it will solidly float, you can blow it up and use it for support to pull yourself out!

Quicksand is a mixture of sand and running water. If the water strops running, the sand will compact and crush anything in it. If someone is stuck in quicksand and are somehow brought under they will suffocate and die, but may be preserved. Quicksand is only temporary, but can exist for a long time, but it is not going to last forever. Use a stick and probe ahead of where you are walking. If the stick sinks down and you have difficulties getting it free, then you got a good case of the quicksand.
