For me it was when I went around the house turning off lights and bitching that I wasn't the damn power company.

Now excuse me while I put on some black socks with sandals so I can yell at the damn kids in my yard!

Are you my husband? lol

I would have to say complaining about all the lights being on in the house and yelling at the neighbors kids to stay the **** out of my flowerbed too. And noticing that I am starting to laugh like my mom did.

About a month or two after I had my daughter. Shes 2 now and when she asks "Why?" for something I say "Because I said so" something I thought I would NEVER do! And I ***** when my husband leaves his socks all over the place or leaves his shoes in the middle of the floor.

Oy, your question made me laugh!

At 45, I find myself now sighing exasperatedly like my mother did whenever things went wrong or proved vexing. I also have started using her Maine dialect and saying, "Oh, fa' Gahd's sake!" It's amusing and touching -- the old gal's been gone since 2000.

Lest you think me perpetually crotchety, I also find that I now have my dad's patience in dealing with idiots and jerks. They used to drive me up the wall, but now I just regard them bemusedly and don't let them get me down.

Your black socks line just made me chortle again. Oy, I hope I don't start wearing muu-muus like Ma did!
