Australia and New Zealand. Honestly the scenery in New Zealand.....GORGEOUS! Spectacular! Beautiful. I've never been but i've seen pictures! :D

Cost wise, I would prefer Asia, as you can see varieties in people, food, and culture...

I don't know where you are from, but if you are from, but I suggest you don't travel your home country now. Back pack elsewhere.
If you are from USA, then back pack Aus and NZ & Asia
If you are from Aus and NZ, then back pack US and Canada.
The reason I say this is that you have more energy when you are young and are more inclined to travel further with less luxury.
