obviously decide my major in college
decide when i am to get married
pick my husband for me
decide what job i am going to do
decide all of my other future plans
yep. that's how my lovely middle eastern parents are.
*sighs*
sometimes i just feel like committing suicide and just be done with this worthless, meaningless life...

I figured they had to be Middle Eastern. But don't commit suicide. They're giving you what they feel is best for you.
Maybe you can try and talk to them and let them know that you're in America (are you?) and that you were born here (were you?) and that you'd much rather follow American standards. Let them know that you have to make your own mistakes and if you need their help or advice you will seek them out.
I'm assuming that they are paying for you to go to school. If they are, then pick a minor and minor in the area that you really want to focus on. Other than that see if they'll compramise with you. Tell them that you'll pay for your own education so you can major in what you want to major in.
Considering I've never had anyone to plan my every move for me I may be giving you bad advice...with the exception of telling you not to commit suicide.
Just hang in there. It will get better...I hope.
1. don't commit suicide
2. talk to your parents.
3. if 2 doesn't work then just hang in there
4. if you don't want to do 3, then you can always run away, but I wouldn't advise you to do so.

I understand that is how Middle Eastern parents are, but if you live n the USA, I do believe you have some choices. Start doing research now, figure a way out! I learned long a go to figure out 10 opinions, no matter how ridiculous they are, makes you think!

Ummm... how about you ask them to pick a therapist for you? Suicide is no joke.
My mom's the same way... And she's not middle Eastern. I picked my own hubby tho, but every other aspect of my life is controlled by her. I can't remember the last major thing I decided for myself.

There are other options other than commiting suicide. You can just leave and start a new life. There are so many other things that life has to offer other than death. I hope everything works out.

Life is a gift.... you only have one so live it how ever you want to and live each day like it is your last because it might be..
If you are not happy with what they are choosing for you.... tell them off... or get the heck outta there and start fresh...

You have choices that will have more power than their choices (by the way, don't choose the suicide thing, there are too many other better things to choose from). Over time they'll grow old and you'll grow stronger and more powerful - this is your life, not theirs.

thats so sad. when I was reading it I was thinking it sound mid-eastern. Dont ever commit suicide. your worth it whether you think so or not. run away...move to the US. you will be free here. just do it legally and you'll be fine.
