I'm thinking they will both struggle, big time. I'm really not sure if they should even start these guys right away.

Im going with Quinn here. Quinn got coached by a former New England champ in Charlie Weis so surely Weis has gotten Quinn ready for the NFL. The Browns drafted Thomas at Left Tackle and signed Steinbach and a few other guys which will help the line out GREATLY! The addition of Jammaal Lewis will take a lot of pressure off of Quinn. The Raiders traded Randy Moss so that is a big time loss for the Raiders. The Raiders have a new head coach who is EXTREMELY young! Quinn going from one former New England champ to another in Romeo Crenell will only make him more comfortable. Look for Brady Quinn to do some amazing things in Cleveland as a rookie. I say Rookie Of The Year!

Brady Quinn will have the better year. and not for the skill positions around the 2 QBs, its that the Browns have the better line, and a young defense coached by Crennel. Turner is an offense coach, and while he will do well with Russell, they will be playing from behind a lot of the time, and Russell will have to force something to happen, and make mistakes (however Vince Young was in the same situation last year, but Rusell is not Vince Young).
I see Brady Quinn having a decent rookie year, and Russell having a tough one.

Russell will have the better year. Firstly, players like Russell (Daunte Culpepper, Byron Leftwich etc.) tend to be great early on, but get hurt and have short careers. Secondly, the Raiders are the better team in the weaker division. San Diego hired a proven loser as its coach. They lost their MLBs. Denver has had 2 players die this offseason and is in complete disarray. Kansas City is an old team without much talent to speak of, except for a RB who broke the carries record last year and is an injury waiting to happen. Oakland's got the best defense in their division (they were third last year, about a yard behind Jacksonville, but about 20 or so behind the Ravens, who ranked ahead by greater margins than during their 2000 season) and they're a 13-3 team waiting to happen if their offense improves as much as San Francisco's did last year (which is likely because Russell could throw 18 TDs and 18 INTs and they could find a RB to put up 1100 yards and 10 TDs and they'd have enough offense to win games).
Let's take a look at the Browns as well. They've got the NFL's best defense in the Ravens (now with a much improved running game and an offseason in which their QB actually got to attend minicamps). Then there's the Pittsburgh team that won the Super Bowl the other year and won their last 6 games not against the Ravens (who blew them out 27-0 and 31-7, which should say something about what kind of division this is). Pittsburgh actually blew out Cleveland the last time they played. Then there's Cincinnati, which may be the best offense in the NFL and hasn't had too many arrests of late. Cleveland's major signing of the offseason was a washed up ex-Ravens RB who was holding the team back (they did that before with Errict Rhett, who had less than 500 yards and I would be willing to bet that Jamal Lewis gets less than 500 yards). Cleveland now has 3 QBs with less than 3 years played in the NFL. They've got an unproven rookie as their only lineman to speak of. Their defense is completely awful and certainly isn't Oakland. Jerry Jones might have traded Brady Quinn for the 1st pick in next year's draft.
Cleveland is a bad team in the best division in football. Oakland is a dark house team in the most overrated division in football.
I'm certain that Russell will have the better rookie year. I think Quinn will have the better career, but I can't be certain because he's playing for the Browns and they're stuck behind arguably the 3 best teams in the NFL.

I say Brady Quinn. Because Raiders are most likely to push Russell into starting position sooner than expected since neither Walters or McCown is fit to be starter. With such limited WR corps and not much help in running games, Russell may take a lot of hits and that usually doesn't bode well for rookie QBs.
Brady Quinn, on the other hand, isn't expected to start this season. He has Charlie Frye and Derek Anderson ahead of him and both QBs proved that they can play to certain extent. That gives Quinn much time to study the offense and learn from watching veterans play.

Not only can the Raiders be worse than the Browns, they will be, and Brady Quinn won't even be a factor in the first half of the season, so that means Russell will have a better season statistic-wise.
If you compare the games Quinn will play with the games Russell will play in those same weeks, the statlines should be about even. If there's an edge to either player, it will go to Quinn because, barring injury, he can throw to Braylon Edwards or Kellen Winslow, Jr. Who on Oakland can catch the balls Russell throws?

as a Browns fan I sort of hope Brady sees very few snaps this year. They're not contenders yet, dont bust up another rookie QB a/la Tim Couch just because people are screaming that you keep losing 30-7. Ultimately, Brady will probably prove to be better. This season, go with Russell.

Jamarcus Russell will likely have the better rookie seaon..The Raiders really have nowhere else to go but up. So he can only be an improvement, he certainly isn't going to make them any worse then they already are.

As bad as the raiders are I think Russel will just because of the hype and the new coaches. The raiders have one of the best defenses believe it or not in the AFC and especially in the west if they can get their offense going they can compete. He wont be a superstar yet but he will make them considerably better.

They are both over rated. Brady "The Porcelain Clown" Quinn wont even start 5 games this year. Jamarcus will therefore have much more game time and better stats, but either way, niether one of them will lead their team anywhere but into the cellar.

Quinn, if he starts. He is more seasoned, being a 4 yr. starter at ND. Also, is ex coach being an offensive guru and now he goes to a team with a little more stability. Russel will be good, as long as he can stay upright!
