Move out, they do not have a choice in it once you are 18

My parents were strict and I moved out when I was 18. That was over ten years ago and I still regret it. I wish I had stayed until my early twenties so that I could finish getting that well-needed parental guidance.

However, it's America, you are 18 and your parents cannot technically stop you from moving out if you so desire. Plan it out, get a job and prove to them that you are responsible enough to make it on your own. The last thing you want to do is come crawling back to them in a few months asking if you can move back in. Thankfully I never had to do that. Best wishes!

Do they have a valid reason for wanting you to stay? If you have a steady job, a car, you're able to pay the monthly rent on time, and you have money for fuel, car insurance, food and utilities, I think you're good to go.
If you plan to stay with friends and freeload, that's not a good plan. It gets old pretty fast, and you'll loose friends.
Good luck.

You can do whatever you want you ate eighteen and legal age. Your parents need to stop being such control freaks. Just make sure you have enough money and have a good job.

If you are 18, then you can legally move out.

But if I were you, I'd stay as long as possible and save lots of money.

Buy your first house and move in, better than renting...

move out. Your finally an adult and you can move out when you're an 'offical' adult. If that doesn't work there's always when you call the cops and tell them what's going on.

They want you to stay in? That's kind of scary... you have every right and you can get legal action if they threaten you but if I were you, I'd stay, it's free rent, unless you have to pay.
