x-6/7x-4=1
5 = x - 6/7x
5 / (1/7)= 1/7x / (1/7)
x = 35

x -6 / 7x - 4 = 1
Multiply both sides by 7x -4 to get rid of the denominator

(7x-4) (x-6)/ x-4 = (7x-4) 1
x - 6 = 7x - 4
Transpose the variables in the left side and the constants in the right side
x - 6 + 6 = 7x - 4 + 6
x = 7x + 2
x - 7x = 7x - 7x + 2
-6x = 2
-6x/-6 = 2/-6
x = -2/6 or - 1/3 ==> the answer
To check
x -6/7x - 4 = 1
(-1/3 - 6)/ (7(-1/3) - 4) = 1
(-1/3 - 18/3 ) / (- 7/3 - 12/3) = 1
-19/3 / -19/3 = 1
-19/3 x - 3/19 = 1
-57/-57 = 1
1 = 1

X-6/7X-4=1

use 7x-4 as the lcd

x-6=7x-4
x-x-6=7x-x-4
-6=6x-4
-6+4=6x-4+4
-2=6x
-1/3=x

x-6/7x-4=1
x-6/7x=5
then divide 5 by 6/7 well i think this problem is impossible or like undefined because after u divide then it will be x-x which is 0 the 5 divided by 6/7 isnt 0

2007-06-13 01:07:46 · answer #4 · answered by Girlygirl12376 2 · 0 0

(x - 6)/(7x - 4) = 1
Multiplying both sides by (7x - 4).
Therefore,
x - 6 = 7x - 4
Subtracting 7x from both sides
Therefore,
- 6x - 6 = - 4
Adding 6 on both sides,
- 6x = - 4 + 6
- 6x = 2
Dividing both sides by - 6
Therefore
x = -2/6
Therefore,
x = -1/3
