I am 17, I don't have dolls at home, but I have a lot of pets. hehehe, but that's another thing.

Anyway, I saw these Cabbage Patch kids, and I thought they were cute.. and I want one... not for collections (although that would be better, but they were a bit pricey), but for one that I want to cuddle with. I don't have to expose it to people saying that I have a doll or anything, because for sure, that would look like lame and childish. I really wanted a baby as of now, not really a live one, or if it is a live one, I should just adopt one.

I told my boyfriend to get me a Cabbage Patch (damn always out of stock in the stores), but he doesn't want to. He says, they're for kids.. But it's not like I am gonna play with it... let's say, cuddle with it?

Hm.. am I immature? Or at least, a factor that would say that I am?

Hmpf, if yes, I need to grow up then :o

Heck I'm twenty one and still have a cow on my bed. (not real of course). When I was accepted to my university one of the admissions officers gave me a stuffed cow with the University logo on his shirt. His name is Cow. I don't think it's childish. Why would admissions officers give them away to students if they were? Being that you are female you can probably get away with it. I know I do!

The cabbage patch doll may be better for you in the long run than the boyfriend. Just think, it listens quietly, never interrupts or says rude things. I really can't tell you how many women I know who have dolls or stuffed animals on or in their beds. The doll won't run off and leave a woman pregnant either. Tell the boyfriend to grow up.

Maybe wanting a baby doll is just your way of making up for missing affection from your boy friend or someone. Take it from me, you don't want a REAL kid that young. I was 17 when my wife had my son. Try babysitting for a friend, you'll never want to look at annother cabbage patch kid. Enjoy life while your young and tell your damn boyfriend to cuddle with you. (Oh and it would be a little creepy if you bought a doll to cuddle with)

It's ok, it just sounds like you're in the very early stages of doll collecting syndrome, it's not fatal and can be very rewarding. Because of the stigma attached there will be people who think you're immature, don't waste your time with people like that.. They have no clue. Sorry, but there is no cure, dolls will find you and tug at your heartstrings for the rest of your life. Just try to relax and go with it, the best treatment is to buy a doll and love it.

Oh my gosh! You sound just like me!When I was a kid I always asked my mom to buy me a barbie doll but she never did cause she was 'busy'. So I finally gave up and played with boyish things with my brothers and right now when I'm grown up I'm having this strange urge to get a doll.Cuddle it and comb it's hair and stuff but I'm terrified to buy one cause everyone we'll be like "That's just childish."But I think if you want it you should get a doll-don't care what people say!No it's not childish.

Hey if you like it then you should get it!
When I was in 5th grade I always worried about what people thought of me, and I was a real anime freak. But I stopped bringing my anime things to school and stopped buying the books and watching the shows because people said it was weird. It really just made it worse and you should know to never follow the crowds, Do what you like and everything and my aunt who is 21 still has little kitty toys that sit on her bed while she sleeps. and I still sleep with my blanket!

To tell you the honest truth.......it is immature because dolls are for children. You are almost an adult and preparing for adulthood. If you have anything to do with dolls at this stage, start a collection of certain dolls. For example, certain people prefer to collect porcelain dolls for exhibit and decoration.

mostly its a bit of nostalgia and also a force of habit and security issue.

I'm 20 and i still have my 10+ year old plushies. They are not on my bed (in a airtight box in my room) but i cant bear to give them away
