does anyone out ther know about any chatrooms for ordinary people who talk about ordinary things such as kids, grandkids, dogs cats the weather, without any profanity or sex or preaching. I am a boring middleaged person.

Unfortunately, due to the wide variety of people on the internet, and their wide-spread personalities, no one really sticks to the subject of a given chat room. Also, other people who feel they live boring lives probably go into chatrooms looking for trouble, or over-all, they're just immature. Perhaps a christian themed chat room would be a little more clean? If you locate a good one, it should just be christian people talking about ordinary things, not necessarily preaching. But then again, don't quote me on that. If I were you, I'd use google to locate an appropriate room. Also, for something a little less involved, Yahoo groups are often useful, and can be used for socializing.

With out weirdos? Good luck, I'm 19 an u would think that maybe since the younger generations r full of weirdos I'd be ok in those chat rooms but I can tell u it's a very scary place out there. I hadn't been to a chat room since middle school, and if I thought it had weirdos then HA.. just recently I visited another chat room, I was getting private IMs from a bunch of really strange guys, all from a different country, and mind u I was on a florida regional chat room (where I live), trying to show me their genitals, and asking me to show my pictures, and if I had a web cam. YEAA. Anyway if u find a clean one please do tell. Yahoo has chat rooms as well if u want to try your luck there, but that's where I went and I had no such luck.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to run across one. I have looked all over the place and no matter where you go there are bots trying to promote you to some other site and it contains nothing but filth. I think the best way to go is something like myspace. You can join a group with a special interest, for instance, everyone who enjoys reading Steven King novels or something like that. You can get connected with thousands of people who share the same likes as you and soon enough you will build a group of people that you can chat with through the myspace I'm (instant messenger) which is basically like chatting, only you know the people you are chatting with a little better.

Every chat room has weirdos, the only chat I can think of is yahoo chat..I think they have many catagories you can chat in, similar to this.
