I believe that the actual name for these creatures is 'jiang shi', pronounced 'ghee-yang-see'. Originally, blood-sucking was not a practiced attribute for these genre-based creatures; however, thanks to Western horror cinema influence, it is now commonplace in Asian vampire/zombie films.

I used to obsessively seek (and never failed to find) these wildly eclectic films, during my many Submarine Navy port-of-call stops in Hong Kong.
