I am 42 years old. I did not go to college. I spent 24 years in retail, and 20 of those years in retail management. I am intelligent However, i do not know much about "society and Culture" because i have never lived or worked in a town larger than 10,000 people. I have always been able to "read people" very well and i posses great common sense, and the ability to use all resources to figure things out. Does that make me wise???? (P.S.) I have been attending an on-line college for 6 months and i have learned SO MUCH!!!!

Smart one is he who does smart things and figures out what such actions are regardless of what society (family, friends) happen to think at the time about what "smart" means.
Meaning you have to be able to choose your own goals and develop plans to reach them, solving any problem that show up and even anticipating such problems during your planification.
Smart people recognice that their own abilities are limited and sometimes its best to use other people's inteligence. You need to ask a lot of questions, read all the time, gather data and process it later.
Formal training in deeply intelectual fields such as mathematics, logic, philosophy and physics will not increase your IQ, but can teach you to think for yourself and attain an almost universal understanding of the world beyond your cultural limitations and prejudices.
Getting the girl at the end is also a sign of wisdom.
Thats what being smart means to me, not some physics degree hanging on the wall (although it doesnt hurt).
