Wow, it really depends on what you are looking for. I personally love both Boston and Chicago. Boston has such a rich history and so many things to see (Freedom Trail, Paul Revere's house, the Charles River, Old North Church...yadda yadda yadda). You are also really close to Cape Cod, which is also a really great day trip. You can whale watch, see the sand dunes. It is great.
Chicago is awesome too. My boyfriend currently lives there and we have had so much fun. There are the museums, the lake shore, the Hancock Building and Sears Tower. If you go I recommend an architecture(sp?) tour and a ghost tour...they are lots of fun. I would also advise you to see the neighborhoods, Wicker Park and Bucktown are really neat. Lake View and Andersonville are cool for unique shops as well.
Have a great vacation with whatever you choose.

I live in Tennessee so between those three cities i would choose chattanooga. Unless you are really into country music, there isnt much to do in nashville besides the nightlife on 2nd avenue/broadway but other than that its mainly country music attractions. Memphis is pretty trashy, I don't like going there at all. I've been to Chattanooga twice and both times it was nice. Overall I recommend going to Knoxville, There is the beautiful mountain view, attractions in gatlinburg and pigeon forge including dollywood.
I've been to Chicago and it's a much better city than Nashville in my opinion. More things to do, yet the people are nicer in Nashville, Never been to Boston though.

It depends on which city has the activities and attractions that best suit your interests. Check the tourist bureaus for each city; do some research online. Personally I'd choose Memphis, because I'd love to go to the Civil Rights museum, hear some wonderful music on Beale Street, and, of course, what trip to Memphis is complete without a visit to Graceland!

Well I own a cabin in Pigeon Forge, TN (near the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park) and we are 12 minutes to Gatlinburg and only about an hour away from Knoxville. So I suppose you know what I would recommend. This area offers everything from hiking, horseback riding to shopping to dinner shows, Dollywood, peace, beauty and tranquility. Cherokee Indian Reservation only an hour a way, caves, whitewater rafting. So much to do.. so little time, but as everyone else here has kind of said it just depends on what you like to do. If you are interested in learning more about the Smoky Mountains and our rental cabin check us out at http://www.bearyblessedcabin.com where you will find more information on the area. Good luck and happy vacationing wherever you go!

Are those the only options?
Chicago is the most interesting of the places you mention (also the most dangerous).
Chattanooga has some very nice things to see.

Boston! Go see a Red Sox game, go do some historic sights, go to the cape/beach, visit Salem, take the ferry to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, drive down to Rhode Island or up to New Hampshire or Maine.

Tennessee has lots 'o culture, good food, and fine music. Boston is usually a fun place for 20 somethings and well lets just say I'd pass on Chicago.
