I've never been pregnant. I just want to point that out to begin with.

When I think or read about what it must be like for a pregnant woman, having something growing and moving around inside your stomach like that, I feel sick. I guess you could say it gives me "the willies." I just wonder if it's normal for a young adult woman to feel this way?

Let me point out for future reference that I'm in my early 20's.

I don't think it is abnormal. Pregnancy can be weird at times even for those who have been pregnant. your hormones are out of control, you hurt in your later months, and you have something totally dependent on you on the INSIDE!! I think all pregnant women at the beginning, either planned or not, have some sort of feelings, joy, confusion, fright, etc, so it is common to feel the way you do. Some women like being pregnant, others repulsed. You will not know truly how you feel until you do get pregnant. It is not all bad though, once you get used to the idea, for me anyway, it was great!!

You won't feel the same way when you are pregnant & it is your child growing inside of you. As soon as you hear the heartbeat, feel the baby kick & see your baby on the ultrasound...you won't feel the same way..Some things may be difficult /strange/or gross you out if you have not experienced it yet.
In the mean time, read some pregnancy books(so you can get more info)..If you have a friend who is pregnant feel her stomach & feel the baby kick./move..maybe that can get you over your fear. DO NOT watch labor & delivery shows!!
I think this is normal because you have not experienced it yet..but if you continue to feel this way when you want to have kids ..perhaps see a therapist incase it is some other underlying issues(I don't mean that to sound rude). For now just educate yourself on pregnancy.. you will see what a miracle it is & what amazing things your body can do.

I've never heard of it before but it seems pretty reasonable. Are you grossed out by other bodily things, such as - could you watch an operation on TV without getting groused out? Also, perhaps you saw the movie Alien where an alien creature bursts out of a man's stomach. I remember seeing that when I was pregnant and squirming a bit.

I'm grossed out by tooth brushing. We have a two sink bathroom, perfect for allowing two people to do their morning routine at the same time. But I cannot be in the room when someone else is brushing their teeth, spitting, etc. It grosses me out and makes me gag. Am I normal?

I suppose some young women could, but once you become pregnant you will have a different mind-set. You can hardly wait to feel the first movement. When you do you will have such a feeling of awe and delight. Nature takes care of all of those negative feelings you can have before a pregnancy.

No, I never felt grossed out as such by knowing that there was a baby growing inside of me, but at times when I felt the baby squirm and kick, I felt like it was abit freaky but on the other hand I loved the life growing inside of me so much and would do anything to protect him.
As with childbirth, yeah it's pretty full-on, but hey you're in pain, you just want the damned thing out of your body, you just don't care about anything. With my 3rd, I stood up and gave birth without any drugs, and it was only afterwards that I looked around the room and saw that it looked pretty bad(I was pacing around the room between contractions and had partial placental abruption and haemorrage starting resulting in nice red footprints on the tiles) Lol, sorry to gross anyone out :P But that's life....

Item # 1.
Womb, not "stomach".

Item #2.
Yours is not an uncomon sensation. There is a line by Herman Hesse that I think You should acquaint Yourself with:
" Inexperience gives little credence to My song".
Of cours eYou find the whole idea of child birth 'scary'. Who wouldn't? Anyone who is 'nulli partum' (never given birth, {and I include Men}) can not truly know what They are talking about.
Yours is a fear based on lack of understanding rather than ignorence. Ask the 'Wise Women' of Your community to impart to You of Their experiences. Don't try to visualize Your nightmare, but instead grasp the reality.

oh yeah. its normal. very much so. it is kind of a creepy thought. sometimes it changes once you have actually become pregnant or have witness a pregnancy at length, and sometimes that just makes it worse.

I'm not 'grossed out'; I've never heard of this before. It's odd that on some level you view the developing fetus as a parasite. That doesn't bother me - giving birth is a different story. All that screaming, the laboured breathing, blood everywhere...and that's just the husband...

Yikes!
