The term "love" is so misused in our culture, that any answer requires some clarification.
Many people want to be loved as they deem themselves to be unlovable. It is usually these people who are extreme and intense about the issue.
What I have witnessed though is often jealousy and possessiveness and this often is called "love". What I have witnessed is dependence and the fear of being alone and this is called "love". What I have witnessed is those who cannot deal with rejection and abandonment and then this is called "love".

I think it's about the love . . . there's all different kinds.
Everyone has different kinds of love for everyone in their life, there's no black and white with this kinda poop.
