4 cyl engne gear box either Automatic or standard will not interchange with the V-8 engine. 1980 L-6 engine C-3 transmission is really not strong enough for the 302 V-8 for very long. You really need a C-6 automatic or a strong V-8 manual gear box to keep the drive train happy and a ford 9" differential. Sorry re reading what your doing. The 4 cyl pinto 2.3 or 2.5 engine has less than 120 hp and 150 lbs torque. and the gearing is much higher for the 6cyl and the 302 V-8. Ford spends big money getting the drive train to work properly just hashing parts fron 6 cyl to 4 cyl will not do.

Why you're so dissatisfied - for the comparable reason unique Trek followers have been 0.5 taken aback whilst they first observed the business enterprise D in next era, or the hot Battlestar Galactica (ok, they have been chuffed approximately that), or whilst Teal'c grew hair on Stargate SG-a million - substitute is perplexing to settle for.
