I just recently purchased a new Chevy Aveo 5, and whenever I drive with the air conditioner on, whenever I turn it off and pull the key out of the ignition I notice that its excessively hot. Ive owned many cars and never noticed this kind of thing. Is this normal for new cars?

honestly i have never heard of that happening to any car,I'm like you kind of,this is odd because there's really nothing there that could cause this,if it was me id contact the dealer about this,it may be something that could become a safety issue, but call them and see if they know of a cause on this, the only thing that could even possibly cause it would be the ignition switch getting hot on it,good luck with it.

I own two Aveo's, and I have never encounterd this problem with either one. I own an 04 5dr. and an 07 4dr. I would take this car to the dealer service dept. and have the problem checked by one of their techs. I can only guess that there may be an overload if the switch is overheating? I have however encounterd warm ignition switches from time to time on some vehicles. By the way, these cars are manufactured by GMDAT, not Suzuki. GMDAT does however manufacture a number of vehicles for Suzuki.

Aveo is a suzuki so go on the suzuki owners forum and ask there. MY pontiac 2006 GTO key gets hot too. On that car it is normal for the coded key to warm up when it is signaling the car that everything is alright.

Thanks Nissan Master tech! Another reason to not buy new cars! Too Much technology! Pay the F`n dealer every freakin time something is wrong, of fix it yourself and have it messed up worse! Cars cost too much! America thinks it needs big comfy fast powerful cars!

Gimme 4 seats, a 1 ltr Diesel engine with No BS (small means less emissions) a couple of switches and OFF the shelf sealed beam headlights! Damn the automakers!!! Damn the public who is too scared to drive something teeny and fun!
