My religion professor in college was a Methodist minister. I asked a similar question one day in class. How can we deny all the physical evidence that contradicts the creationist theory? He believed God created it all....God created the earth..God created evolution of man....God created EVERYTHING. We must always remember that the bible was written by man.....with God's help.....but man always puts his own spin on things. God was probably shaking his head..but the bible is a book written by men for other men to read.

To answer the first question: lack of education. A well-educated person would logically examine all the evidence available. I think that the fringes of each end of the debate (Creation vs Darwin) forget that there can be middle ground. Are the days of Genesis equal to the days of today? Could a man (Methuseleh) live over 900 of our years? Were there angels and giants on the earth 5000 years ago? Science would seem to indicate "no".
An open mind is an active mind. If you haven't taken the time to do the study and research yourself, and only believe what others tell you, then shame on you! I will not propound my results in this forum--it has taken 52 years to get to this point. Resesarch the Order of the Golden Dawn, the Kaballah, et al.

Understand that there are fundamentally opposed epistemological premises at work here. This is not politics, where everything has to be a compromise; this is science, objective truth is the only end worth striving for.
It all boils down to this: is faith a valid means for the acquisition of knowledge? Or is Reason the only tool man has in understanding the universe?
Understand that the existence of God, or the belief that he created the universe, is solely the province of Faith. There is no physical evidence for the existence of a divine creator, much less the Judeo-Christian one. Any any so-called "proof" is that which makes a mockery of the scientific method. People believe first, then go looking for proof of God, where in proper science, arriving at a conclusion is the last thing you do.
Bear in mind, Darwinists are not a closed-minded bunch, because any Darwinist would explain to you what it would take for him to surrender his support of evolution. And that is, if someone brought forward a new theory for the rise of life, which is more consistent with observed data than evolution, then evolution would be dropped at the tip of the hat. They reject intelligent design and creationism because it is not a theory that comes from proper observation (phenomena "A" leads me to believe an intelligent designer exists) but rather, from tearing down the current theories in favor of a simpler one (life is too complex for evolution, so it MUST have been God). Furthermore, ID doesn't truly solve any problems, it just creates more of them. Who created the ID? where did he come from? If the universe is too vast to have arisen randomly, then surely an Intelligent Designer would have to be vastly more complex to have created the universe, it only stands to logic that he too, would need a creator.
So now I ask Creationists; what would it take for you to surrender your belief in God? What could a man of science say or do to convince you that there is no God? I am guessing the vast majority are going to think to themselves "absolutely nothing".
Which one was closed minded, again?

The real fact is that after careful study we know the causes and workings of countless things in the world and the rest of the universe. None of it has been found to be of a supernatural nature. Nothing that has been proven to have actually happened has been found to violate natural laws. So statistically we actually do know, with all but absolute certainty, that there is nothing beyond the physical universe.
And so I say to agnostics: s*** or get off the pot.

Don't know, but I'm in the middle of all this...the FACTS are we DON'T know anything...we just don't...we don't know if there is God...we don't know whether science(well some of it) is the truth either. That's why they're called THEORIES...
