A problem like that could really be anything. A virus, Windows files that became corrupted, hardware failure... all could cause a computer to misbehave in that way.

First I'd try virus and spyware scans. AVG Anti-Virus is free and works well. http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free

Spybot Search and Destroy for spyware http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/

If that didn't work or the computer wasn't working well enough to complete the scans, I'd probably try to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows. Hopefully you have all your files and programs backed up somewhere... Always back up...

If a fresh installation of Windows didn't solve the problem, I'd start checking hardware. Theres a program called #1 TuffTest that costs about $10.00. It creates a bootable disk that will check your memory, processor, hard drive, parts of the mainboard... and give you simple pass or fail results. http://www.tufftest.com/tt01.htm

this is from your internet not the laptop itself. Or at least it should be the internet. Well really its if you put a spam blocker or a virus protection software, on your computer. So when you play a game program or if your on the internet and the software decides its unsafe, then it can close all your programs and have that pop up. Also in that case is when your internal memory or gaming memory is slowing down because you have too many games or too many programs on the computer. any other questions just email me, I used to work at best buy. If you have a best buy close to you take your comp in the whole company is non-comp and they are there to help!

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to run task manager, and make it crash again. If you see 100% CPU usage without any strange programs appear then PC may need more memory to run graphics, video, PDF; etc.

You can also stop popup messages by entering control pannel/performance/administrative tools/services then select Messengers/property and disable this service.

before determine it's virus.

Backup what's you need then reinstalling fresh windows with option reformatting drive C:. Scan the backup folders with latest anti-virus software before restoring them.
