It seems that we are over there until Iraq's government reaches certain "Benchmarks." That statement seems to boil down to oil. Are America's young men and women dying over there so Chevron, BP, Exon-Mobill, Shell, and K.B.R. can get multi-million (and Billion) dollar contracts? I say Yes, and I think it's disgusting. It's an example of Facism at it's worst. To those who don't know what FACISM is, It's where coprorations weild their political influence to manipulate an enitre government and its armed forces. What do you think? Please respond with well researched answers not talking points and propoganda.

We are not doing a very good job of protecting either.
Just watch the news to see how many Iraqi citizens get killed weekly and how many have been killed since "Mission Accomplish" Bush said it was all over.
The oil is being stolen and sold on the black market and who is getting the profits??

Of course you're right, but the Bushocrats are going to climb all over you for saying it. If there was no oil in the middle east we wouldn't be there. The First Gulf War was fought entirely over the fact that Iraq had the capacity and the desire to appropriate the oil of both Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. How foolish to believe that oil isn't the motivating force behind the Iraq situation. The irony of the entire situation is that while we won the 'war', we've totally lost the occupation...which means we lost our influence in the middle east....when I say we, I mean the Bush Junta that got us into this and refuses to take responsiblity for it. Wave the flag and blame the America-hating 'liberals' all you want...more BS. Fascisim at its worst....and not even competent fascisim.

the people and the country
also it seems the oil as that is part of the country and it's wealth.
ok reading the article I can't see what is wrong with it? or I should say how you come by your ideas? Yes people are dying but it happens - and they are not dying for oil as that is just a happy by product of being there....
The iraqi's can't develop their own oil so others are coming in and they are getting money for it - they are better off with something than nothing (think as well that the workers will be spending some of their money locally ...)
simple supply and demand...
now that it is safe for peple to be in iraq (well safer...) these companies are coming in (money is a big motivator - no one does something for nothing - except for the americans it seems...) and developing and helping themselves and thereby the country...
There is so much to do there - where does one start in trying to fix up the country and should the government be in total control of the oil as in iran and saudi arabia? now there is facism for you.....

I think we are in Iraq for several reasons, one of which is oil. While multinational oil companies making obscene amounts of profits and their CEOs taking home hundreds of millions a year is simply about greed and bothers me, our economy is also so dependent on oil that its scarcity or even the perception of its scarcity creates a crisis for our government. We have known for 30 years that we were frighteningly dependent on foreign oil but failed to prepare by doing things like heavily research alternate energy sources.

When they took over Baghdad the Ministry of Oil was one of the few buildings that the Americans protected from looters. Nuff said.

Hate is an ugly pill. Spit it out. Your hate has clouded your vision. The first step is to get all the liberal propaganda and hate out of your mind. Look at both the issue and the facts. Actually look at them. With a clear mind. If you still feel the same way then please vote Democrat in the next election. You will deserve what you get.
