Murder is murder even if the perpetrator is a high school teenager. Murder is defined as the willful termination of another, meaning she knew what she would be doing beforehand.

She should readily accept the concequences for her callous actions.

Wow never heard of this but yea she should be charged with murder. Many people cant have babies and this irresponsible girl drowns her son. First, I dont understand how nobody knew she was pregnant. I have to say I have never seen a person that was 9mths pregnant and didnt know. Even 8 mths pregnant. This is ridicilous. She should not only be charged with murder but also be given the death penalty. Who cares how old she is that has nothing to do with it. If you are old enough to have sex, get pregnant and keep the baby then you are old enough to pay the price of killing an innocent person.

It is so sad that she felt this was her only option.
She must have been so so scared (mentally unstable) to have gone to these drastic measures!
Why wouldn't she have thought of adoption, keeping the child?
Horrible.

Unfortunately this isn't the only case of this either...
Here in N.S.W Aust... there was a girl who did the same thing on a school excursion.. she wasn't charged for it.

Murder is Murder yes.. but there are circumstances and age that may factor in on the decision.

I find that very sad and heartbreaking that a little baby had to suffer because of the selfishness of an 18 year old, who clearly wasn't old enough or ready for the responsibility. She seems VERY irresponsible to me, and people like that should not be going out and getting pregnant!

I'm wondering if Japan has a don't ask don't tell policy on birth control like the US does, since most US stories like this seem to come from clueless kids kept as near shut-ins by restrictive parents.

The charge is appropriate, tho it might be second degree rather than first due to the stress she was under. What kind of person drowns her baby at birth?

I think this proves there's no god, that's what I think. What a horrible world we live in. It's not as if the girl was a frightened 13 year old or something, she's 18, what a heinous *****. And when they say basin do they mean toilet?

And now here's Bob with the weather.

She's a cold-hearted tramp who murdered her baby and doesn't have a single ounce of remorse. The only thing she's sorry about is that she got caught. I hope she is found guilty of first degree premeditated murder and locked up for the rest of her life. And she should be sterilized.

Unless the woman is found to be mentally handicapped...I think the charge is appropriate given the crime and the age of the perpetrator...this was not a child who committed this crime.. but an 18 year old woman....who knew exactly what she was doing....
