My boyfriend and I have been together for 8 years. When will he propose? We've been through many ups and downs, but we've managed to stay together this long. We are both starting our professional careers. We have no kids. We talk about getting married soon. But why doesn't he propose???? I know he can afford a ring. Is he waiting for me to do it or what??? I'm beginning to lose patience. I don't want to give him an ultimatum. What should I do. He knows I'm waiting...

8 years is a long time to be in a relationship but never even propose. Talking about marriage and stepping up are so different.
There's a book you should check out if you ever have the time. It's called Why Men Marry Some Women and Not Others. Very informative.
If he's gone 8 years without proposing, chances are slim that he ever will.

8 years is a long time not to have a total commitment. I am in a wonderful relationship but before him i was with my ex for 6 years and 9months and he keep saying it will happen and now we are not together but for other reasons also besides that. sometimes people drag it out because they want to be single but still come home to someone. Just talk to him and tell him how you feel. Hopefully he will understand and your ring will follow. But be careful for blind spots when talking to him maybe he stills feels that you are at a stand still and he doesn't totally feel like you. Be prepared for everything. But do talk at least you'll know where you stand.

You should give him the ultimatum, and if you leave him, he'll be forced to think about your relationship. Thats teh only way some guys learn and realize who your worth. I was in a relationship for a couple of years and really can see myself with this person someday. I didn't realize that fully till I was not longer with her.

He has all the benefits of marriage and none of the responsibilities. Eight years is too long to wait for someone to **** or get off the pot. Give him a deadline. Then move out. Don't waste your entire youth waiting for something that is not likely to happen. Guys like this usually get married right away to the next girl.

talk to him, he may be comfotable with how the relationship is and doesnt see any reason to get a ring fo you since the both of you have been with each as long as you have, the only way for him to know how you feel about the issue is to talk to him and find out where he stands on the issue....

LISITEN GURL NEVER RUSH ANYTHING WHEN THINGS ARE GOING SO GOOD. MAYBE HE IS NOT READY TO ASK U TO MARRY HIM BECAUSE MARRIAGE IS A BIG STEP.AS LONG AS THAT MAN IS TREATING U RIGHT THEN WHY RUSH HIM GURL. it could be that he really is not looking to go that next step
if after 8 years he has not made the move, it not likely he
will, and if you want to be marraige you may have to let
him know what really going on with you. or time to let go
and move on.
