My youngest son has two middle names. The first middle name is for my husband and the second middle name is my father's first name. I was an only child, so this is my way of honoring my dad. In the end...it's up to you!

Use two middle names!! My brother has 2 awesome middle names and I only have 1 boring one, and I've always been jealous. I tease my mom that she gave him 2 middle names because she loves him more. ;)
I'd give him _FirstName_ John Albert _LastName_. Putting John first shows that you're not bumping him back at all. Some people have suggested using Albert as a first name and John as a middle name, but I'm not sure about that. Your dad was all excited to feel important and have the baby have John as his middle name, and he might feel slighted if you give the baby another man's first name. Then again, if John and Albert were friends John might actually love the idea of using Albert as a first name.
At any rate, don't listen to the people who say, "It's your baby so you should do what you want and ignore your family." Family doesn't go away, and any conflicts that are created can stick around to annoy you all for years. Like it or not, keeping the family from being unhappy is usually something to make a priority.

You could honor both people by giving a double middle name so long as both John and Albert fit with the first name you are considering. Having a double middle name has become increasingly popu;lar over the past ten or so years. My niece made it a point to give each of her six children double middle names as kind of a thing to be different from the norm and in part to make multiple family members happy. Good luck in choosing.

John Albert would be a great middle name!! I like it and I am not always a fan of names that have to middle names.
Another idea just name him Albert John and call him AJ. My son has a friend named Alex Joshua, but everyone calls him AJ. Most people don't even know his real name except for the teachers.

Well, if I had a boy he would have had his father and paternal grandpa's middle name - Wayne and he would have had his maternal grandfather's first name as a middle name - thus the son I never had would have been Joseph Wayne Eugene. So because of that decision my girls have two middle names. So you could go with Albert John or John Albert as middle names, depends on which way it sounds better with the first name you have chosen. good luck

Go with John-Albert but what's the kid's first name? You gotta consider what sounds good. Maybe have John as a first name and Albert as the middle name. Good Luck and Congrats!

I would do both. The names each mean so much to you it would be too hard to choose one. You cannot take back what you told your dad, and the other is an important person in you life. I think it sounds fine too John Albert. Good luck! Sorry to hear about the loss...

Well you told your Dad you were going to name the baby his middle name. Do you think he will be disappointed now if you don't?
I would never tell someone I was doing that and then not do it.
If you was to respect your friend and his passing why don't you just name the baby Albert John?
Alby is a cool shortened name?
