Not I. Though, I'm biased. I'm 17. I look forward to being 18. My main thing is voting. Right now, I don't really have the right to complain about anything that's going on in politics, because I haven't voted voted for anything. Soon, that will change.
I think that being 18 isn't going to be "Omg I'm finally an Adult!" cause if you want to get technical, you can be considered an adult at 16. That's the age of emancipation. So really, it's all in what you're doing with your age that makes you an adult.
There could be a 13 year old out there somewhere making a living because their drunk parent won't and the other parent is six feet under. That kid, who was forced to grow up, could be considered an adult.
I dunno. Whatever.

Even though everyone who is 18 is legally considered an adult, there are plenty of 30 year olds that I've seen and they act worst (responsibility wise) than my 17 year old brother!! I think when a person is able to take care of themselves and take on the responsibilities of the real world, then they are considered an adult, regardless if they are 18 or older.

You are an adult when you are an adult...
Some males are men at very young ages- some are always boys.
Same with females.
You are an adult when you earn it, and it is different for everyone. Some people never mature.
18 is just an approximation.
I've know 13 year olds that would have done just fine on their own.. and 30 year olds that couldn't survive a day.

I definitely agree. Technically, you can "die for your country" and all that, but I'm 18, and would not consider myself an adult. I believe that at 18, a person has a well-developed enough mental capacity to be able to make sound decisions, and to be held accountable for them. For instance, I think it is very important for the voting age to be 18. On the other hand, in an emotional and experiential sense, I still consider myself a child. How can you be expected to completely grow up at 18, all of a sudden?

It should be any one that is 18 yrs old is an adult. However, most 18 yr olds, don't act like it and most still live at home these days. When I was 18, I had already been living on my own for 2 years and in college for 2 years. I guess it's all relative.

Most baby boomers & their parents reached maturity by the time they were 18 unlike todays teens. In todays day and age many people don't understand the meaning of adulthood. You SHOULD act like an adult by the time you are 18. However, most young kids don't reach adulthood until their late 20's early 30's.

Legally - 18 (the 21 drinking age notwithstanding).
Emotionally/ Intellectually/ Socially ? It varies. 18 isn't a magical number.
Maturity isn't measured in a number, but in wisdom and experience. So yes, while some 18-year-olds are very mature and adult, there are a great number of "older" people who still haven't reached maturity. I'm not talking about 40-year-olds living in mommy's basement, but people with the emotional maturity of teenagers (if you work in retail, look at some of the customers. Grown men/women who act like kids when they can't get their way).
...
I could go on for pages, but I'll spare you.

I agree. My brother is 18 and THINKS he is an adult. I'm only 3 years younger than him and he's always like respect your elder. He's still a teen! He hasn't even matured yet!

I have always though of 18 being the age in which a child is emancipated or tried as an adult, but not anymore. I have always felt that 21 was the "legal" age too...
