My film ending is the one written for the made-for-TV movie "The Scarface Mob", the pilot film for "The Untouchables" starring Robert Stack as Eliot Ness, G-man, fighting the Capone Mob in Chicago during the era of Prohibition.
At the end of the story, with Capone going to prison, the narrator of this 1930's setting film, Walter Winchell, reads the words, "Al Capone is dead, Eliot Ness is dead,..." Then adds, "But the war between the Nesses and the Capones...goes on and on..." There are three greater endings, I argue in film history; those seen in "Things to Come", "The Fountainhead", and "The Three Hundred Spartans"...But this is the one that moved me the most of all the films I have ever seen; it's the one I live by.

I have no clue why these 2 movies come to my mind, but at the end of An Officer and a Gentleman when Richard Gere goes to the factory and picks up Debra Winger and carries her out the door, just does something for me. Also at the end of Urban Cowboy when John Travolta finds "Sissy" and takes her back home and they get back together, brings a tear to the eyes.........
