My boyfriend travels for months as a time (during the summer) for his job and I do not get to see him. I want to make him a movie and send it to him but cannot think of any songs to put with the pictures. I would like something more modern (nothing from the 80's and earlier) that describes something along the lines of missing someone/can't wait to see them, etc. Any thoughts?

Incubus - I Miss You, Wish You Were Here

One that popped to mind is "PS: I Love You". Bette Midler did it best in For the Boys from the early 90s but it's actually a really old song. But that may not fit.....another really sweet miss-you-kinda song is "Somewhere Out There" from An American Tail (the mouse version) but then again, that's not very romantic.

How bout this one from Incubus? It's called I Miss You and the lyrics are below
______________________________________________
To see you when I wake up
Is a gift I didn't think could be real.
To know that you feel the same as I do
Is a three-fold, Utopian dream.

You do something to me that I can't explain.
So would I be out of line if I said "I miss you"?

I see your picture.
I smell your skin on
The empty pillow next to mine.
You have only been gone ten days,
But already I'm wasting away.
I know I'll see you again
Whether far or soon.
But I need you to know that I care,
And I miss you.

You'll have to decide if the music's right ;)

Well, I love Hey There Delilah by Plain White T's.

no longer precisely a similar variety of element you propose, yet actual attempt "Franklin" by Paramore. additionally, "one thousand Miles" by Vanessa Carlton and "howdy There Delilah" by the undeniable White T's are the two staggering, too (as others mentioned).

Great song!
