sheet on Excel on the harddrive. Will the change of the operating system disturb the valuable data which is presently
on the harddrive? Will the Windows XP Pro OS and the existing spreadsheet work together? Thank you.

It's not so much a matter of the operating system as what program the spreadsheet needs to be usable. If it was created in Excel 97 and you're upgrading to XP Pro with Office 2003, Office, XP, or Office 2000, then there shouldn't be any problems at all. Better yet if you're using the same program in Windows 98 and Windows XP, then there should be no difference at all.

Now, if you install Windows XP as an upgrade, I don't think it will format your drive or cause you to lose any data. But if you format the drive when you install XP, then you'll lose everything. Best to back up any files you want to keep before you do the upgrade (I find emailing small files to yourself works really well).

Are you making the change to XP Pro in an Acura? Otherwise go to the right section.
