the game when Bonds ties/breaks his record?

I know he has said in the past that he would not, but how about out of respect for the LEAGUE itself?

Your view? Should he be there?

Yes or No?

I think he is showing respect for the league by not being there. It's one of the greatest records in all of sports and it is being broken by a cheater. For all that Aaron had to go through when he was on the cusp of breaking Ruth's record, he must be sick that he will lose it to someone like Bonds.

No, simply for the fact you don't know when Bonds will break the record. I agree with Aaron. You don't know when he'll break the record. It could be days or weeks sitting on 754 and then could be longer before he passes Aaron. Aaron isn't in the mood chasing Bonds around the country just to watch him break his convented record.

As for respect, it's not like Bonds has given baseball that much respect over the years.

I think Hank Aarom should not show up to the game not for a specific reason except well he is pretty old and he doesn't want to watch someone break his record in person Bud seliq the commisioner should have a choice and not decide having barry bonds and steroids in his mind if either of these people want to go he y will show up they will but if not thats ok the media shoul just shutup abput people attendiong all these games and about barry bonds in the news paper at gthe top of the sports section it says road top history with barry bonds well no one really cares except those respected barry bond fans who I salute for stayuing withhim through these tough times

The decision to be there or not is up to Aaron himself. He has said he will not be there, which is understandable. Bonds is about to break his record, helped by illegal subsatnces. It is hard for Aaron, or anybody else, to be present when a hard-earned record is broken by an arrogant cheater like Bonds. Aaron should definitely not be there, to send the message that steriod users like bonds have tarnished the game and that their records should not count. It would be a tragedy if a great player and person like Aaron were present to acknowledge the accomplisment of a jerk like bonds. As for Bud Selig, he should be there. Bonds has obviously had an unfair advantage in his chase of aaron's record, but Bud Selig is still the commisioner of baseball. For Selig to not be present would be disrespectful not to Bonds but to the league.Selig should be present, not because of Bonds, but for the sake of major league baseball. Hopefully, something will happen and Bonds will not break the record.

I think that Aaron should stay as far away from that night as he possibly can. About as far away as Bond's "record" should be from Aaron's in the record books. That night won't be about the glory of the game or history or respect or anything except the night where Barry will have hit more career home runs than anyone in MLB history. That will be all the fanfare that Bonds will deserve. It won't matter who is there.

Coming from a SF Giants fan, NO!!!!! He specifically said that he does not have to be there, does not like to travel and has travel plans to play golf anyways.....

It will not be his record anymore when it happens.....

He does not have to do anything out of respect for MLB because they only pay his pension, but not a full paycheck. He's only at the Braves' ballpark occasionally because he wants to watch a game and not because they're twisting his arm to attend.

I watched his record surpassing HR back then and no one expected Babe Ruth's family to be there.....

Aaron should exert his own will. If he doesn't want to be there, that's his prerogative.

Seligula, however, sits in the big chair and has a responsibility to the game even if he personally doesn't like it. Bad enough that doofus Kuhn blew it for Hank's big night.

Henry Aaron is a class act and it is totally his call to be there or not. I really don't think he will show because he doesn't want to put himself in the middle of the Bonds issue, one way or another. If he were to show up he would be hounded by the press as to why he supports someone who took steroids and not that he was there for the good of the game and Aaron doesn't need that mess.

I believe it is his decision and his alone. He shouldn't have to be anywhere he doesn't want to be. He doesn't want to so good for him. At least he made his feelings known. He could have played the part and been there but he chose not. I'm glad for him. If Barry had any respect for the game he should retire 1 HR shy of the record. Then he would be seen in a better light.

No, why should he be there? To congratulate someone who is embarrissing the sport by getting the biggest record in sports by doing it an unclean way. If i was him I'd be pissed. You always hear Bonds moan about its because he's black but dont you think that just insults Aaron. Does Bonds even know what Aaron went through? He'd get death threats because he's black and he's a great guy, Bonds is an *** so if he gets those threats its atleast understandable.
