They're both pretty respectful...
It's those "philosophically religious philosophers of religious philosophy" who are very disrespectful...

In my personal experiences, I have found the philosophically minded to be much more tolerant of the religious, than the religious have been of their philosophical counterparts. Although some philosophers are very closed minded, in general a student of philosophy is taught to look at for an answer from every angle and keep an open mind, whereas a student of religion is generally taught that their specific religions way is the only way.
If that makes sense.

Depends on the personality of the philosopher or the religious person. I am more spiritual, so I have friends who do not believe, but I am OK with that, although I do question why, I guess because I philosophize what brought them to their decision of religion.

Philosophers. People affiliated with religious organizations tend to be more willing to push thier ideas off onto people with no regards to whether it makes that person uncomfortable or not. Further, they are quicker to judge someone and therefore treat them with no respect, as in the religious person's mind they are 'sinners' and 'non-believers'. Philosophers on the other hand are on a lifelong quest for knowledge making them very open to new ideas, more respectful of other ways of life, and overall more likely to be aware of their effect on other people's emotions.

I feel philosophers are loners. They are busy finding meaning in inane things and need people only to test their skills----they ask and ask and ask and are never satisfied with the answers. They have to find their own answers. While a truly religious person accepts. He loves other fellow being for being the creation of God and has devotion and humility as his trademarks. He, to my mind, is more respectful of the others than the one who is always skeptical..........

I was going to say philosophers, because they are more open minded. But that answer seems ironic since I'm closed to the idea that the religious are open minded.
I guess I'm neither!

These are labels and has no bearing on an individual's true capacity to be respectful. Like any labels or beliefs, it can be taken to extreme which by no means is or would be respectful of others...more than likey. It is hard for me to conceive that we can truly respect someone if we have a strong belief system.

Probably the religious. I have no reason to respect a person's delusions.
