Mink are definitely meat eaters and they are very vicious if you try and grab one.
Bated traps set out in the winter. I do not know where mink are now. I haven't heard of any in the US for a long time but probably are some near Canada. Russia still have wild mink.
Nearly all fur mink are farmed mink.

You will never tame a wild mink and you know you are wasting your time here. You need to have it humanely destroyed, mink are vicious predators and not a native species to the UK and decimate nesting waterfowl wherever they breed. As you say releasing it is out of the question. I can't believe what you are saying "too beautiful to kill" they look like evil half cat/half weasel. I too keep quail and a rat killed one of mine the other week,I have a rat trap down (the type where they enter and can't get out) and would have no hesitation in dropping the whole lot in the ditch for the rat to drown when I catch one. If I caught a baby mink I would drown that too, adult mink are too big for the trap. I used to have a spring loaded rat trap which was very effective but nearly had my hand off one night. Vermin are vermin get the vet to put it down if you can't kill it yourself.

Bait a trap with a piece of apple covered with peanut butter. Don't know if it will work on a mink, but it sure works on possums and skunks.

Why, do you want to slaughter it to make a fur coat? I can't believe this.
