you have 92% of the first 92% of the points, so .92 x .92= .846
so you need 5.4% more for a 90. so 5.4 of the 8.0 percent the test is worth is a 68%.

SO YOU PROBABLY DONT NEED TO DO YOUR BEST.

I assume for an A you need to get at least 90.

If the final is worth Y percent, your existing mark counts for (100-Y) percent. So if you get a mark of F in the final, your total mark including the final will be
(X(100-Y) + FY) / 100
= X + Y/100 (F-X)
For this to be at least 90 we need
X + Y/100 (F-X) ≥ 90
=> Y/100 (F-X) ≥ (90-X)
=> F-X ≥ (100/Y) (90-X)
=> F ≥ X + (100/Y)(90-X).

So if your current mark is 92%, and the final is worth 8%, then you need to get at least
92 + (100/8) (-2) = 67 on the final to keep a 90% mark overall.

If your current mark was 95% you'd only need 95 + (100/8)(-5) = 32.5 on the final. And of course if you had a current mark of 90% / 92% = 97.83% or better, you wouldn't need to score anything at all on the final...

if your grade is 92%, and youve already done 92% of the possible work then you have a 92% of the work done so far. so one way to do is it to add up your total points (including the final) and see what your grade would be, then calculate how many TOTAL points are needed to have a 90% in the class. the difference is how many points you need on the final to keep an A

you probably just need a C or D or somethin

(.92)(92) + (.08)x = 90
x = 67
All you need is a 67.

Just do your best on the final and don't worry. I know the answer, but I won't tell you.
