it's trying to say that "why am I (wendy) kicking a tree? just because everyone else is?"

in a sense, they're trying to compare everyone kicking a tree to every fastfood restaurant selling frozen hamburger meat to their customers. Just because other fast food restaurants make their hamburgers from frozen meat, doesn't mean they have to. thats where the trees come. It's just a comparison

Ever since Dave Thomas died, Wendy's has been struggling to find a new image. They have had so many marketing campaigns and they all failed. Remember the cartoon squares? Yea me neither!

I think the idea is that kicking trees makes about as much sense as eating burgers made from "frozen patties". Everyone is doing it because everyone else is doing it. But it makes more sense to eat burgers from fresh patties (i.e. to stop kicking trees).

I think.
