It shouldn't hurt. Try at first with slender/junior tampons, plastic is easier to insert. It will be easiest for you to do when your flow is heavy. As a new user you will find the extra lubrication helps. I find twisting the applicator while inserting it can help too. If you insert the tampon high enough you shouldn't be able to feel it.
Tampons are wonderful, if it wasn't for cramps it would be like you don't even have your period.

If it hurts, then you're doing it wrong or you may have something wrong that you need to get looked at. If you're mother is available, please talk to her about it. If not, please find an older female that you trust, even the school nurse if a family member or family friend is not available. You need personal advice, this really isn't the place. Your first time it may take a couple tries to get it to a place where it feels ok and it's comfortable. You'll get the feel for it.

i think it can only hurt if you use the wrong size and you don't insert it correctly. You kind of just have to learn as you go. Good luck!

It hurts if you insert it incorrectly. Make sure you're a) not tense and b) pushing back and up. If it's in correctly, you shouldn't really feel it.

No, they don't hurt. Since you are a first time user though, you should start out with the slim sizes....for light-regular flow....until you are comfortable.

No they are much more comfortable than pads!!! You can't even feel tampons when they are in. They are better.

I'm pretty sure it would kinda feel weird at first and not hurt alot... but I guess it's better than the old school tampons.... (sorry but I only answered this question, cause some girls at school a couple of years ago tried to gross me out by bringing up their experience with their periods. Can I have ten points please?)

not at all :) way better than pads, you just have to stick them in all the way or it will be painful throughout the day
