I have a few ideas on romance to share with you. The first being, I think romance is something that is/should be an everyday occurrence and no big deal. It's just the little courtesies of day to day living. The good morning hug, the lustful smile several times a day, the getting her the second cup of coffee in the morning, a shower together at the end of the day, doing my own laundry, just a lot of little day to day things. Not really memorable earth shaking events to tell her friends I know but that's how I think of it. I cant truely wrap my mind around turning romance into a big event and do not fully understand the womans need for this to be a big deal. Nor do I understand how to do this without giving up my manly dignity. I always feel like a wus trying to make a big deal out of romance and remember my Grandfather was a mans man and treated my Grandmother with the repect due a Queen and they loved each other dearly but he never had a tub full of rose petals and candles for her, he just loved her dearly as she did him, and it seemed as if love and respect were enough for the both of them to enjoy each other for almost 75 years together.

Romance could be many different things.

Writing a little love note on a post it and putting it on the fridge or a car window.

Exquisite dinners at Fancy Restaurants, weekend getaways..

I have done quite a few things.

Dinner by the sea in Galveston with a nice walk along the wharf after wards.

Wrote a song and sang it to her one New Years Eve.

I think romance is over-rated.

Romance is taking your wife to fine dining, a bottle of wine, a walk in the starlit sky, and a soft, passionate embrace to end the evening. Right?

Wrong. Here's how it really goes...

Romance is really something like this...

You've got a proposal due at work but it's delayed because your wife has got the flu or is pregnant or both. You're stuck with taking Kid A to school, Kid B to practice, Kid C to her friend's for homework...all while having to clean up your dearly beloved's vomit. Don't forget the carpool and be sure to pick up food for the kids, too!

That's life. That's romance. And the really special, romantic bit of it all is that people bother putting up with this. Marriage must be one heckuva institution and childbearing must be terribly rewarding that people are still going this route--settling for this "romance."

I admit that it is days like these when, surprisingly, you most love your wife and kids. It is then that your familial mettle and comittment is tested and when you persevere it IS romantic!

I'm a sucker for romantic adventures, so it's tough to pick one, but I think the most romantic was calling up a new friend at work to tell her that I had just won two tickets for a cruise around the Caribbean. I asked her how spontaneous she was feeling and we left the next day. That launched one of the most delightful weeks of my life and a summer that I'll never forget.

Romance 2 me is being intimate without sex, it could be him giving flowers/roses, him giving a back/foot massage, him holding hands with me, sending a love letter or card.
Him listening 2 my needs and trying his best 2 fulfill them.

Romance 2 me is that person reassuring you they love you thru the simple things! No words needed...just their actions!

romance is doing something for someone you love just out of sheer whim...

i once drove to my girlfriend's office (15 miles from mine) during my lunch break to leave a rose on her car (roses are her favorite... it's not that i have no imagination)
