Hmm... The green color is dominant until the temperature get cooler which then signals the leaf to let the warm recessive colors appear. It means the tree is getting ready to release its leaves for the winter. Ask your Biology teacher for the scientific terms.

In a way it is to show us the versatility that nature has. With out using scientific terms , all the color you see is the fading of the life giving juices flowing from the plants. Although beautiful to our eyes, its just part of the natural ways of plant life.
