US itself is a free market...a free trade zone within the country itself. Some support it because when US signs free trade agreement with other countries, it makes these countries to trade in the same manner like US, so fair play is enforced. However, it is a double edges weapon, free trade is a way to lose US jobs to the other countries through outsourcing.

Personally, I am pro free trade as this is the natural and correct way to do thing in the market. Outsource is not all bad. For example, China can have factories that sew clothes for us at US$2/Hr while in US with minimum wage is about US$7/Hr. So, would you insist to stop outsource, and insist on paying US$25 T-shirt that is made in US and not buy any China Made T-shirt at US$7. Does not make economical sense, right? Do you think Americans want to be work at the hourly rate of US$2/Hr?

Get real. There are many jobs in this world. US does not need to fight with these countries that are willing to work hard or even harder for a lot lesser money. There are other jobs in these world. The government should help the people to create and seek for such opportunities. The current government is seriously lacking in this. I hope thing will change soon after the 2008 election.

i might want to assert that you've been insanely perplexed. The Iraq conflict replaced into began by a conservative, and a conservative president and Congress (as a lot as 2006) funded inner most contractors to promote sand to Arabs. traditionally speaking, conservatives have executed no longer some thing considering that Reagan... even Nixon.. to save spending down. The Patriot Act isn't democratic because it takes away own freedoms and liberties. again.. you're perplexed. A republican congress and president handed the act. Your different circumstances sound like maximum of u.s.. a distinct blend of Dem/Rep. It basically relies upon on what you fee the most out of all those. -_ i'm sorry, yet you want to ask your self it is a slogan and it is a actuality. Conservatives also use the "a lot less spending" tactic even as they don't look in ability, yet even as they income stated ability they spend like madmen. the authentic deficit holders in contemporary heritage were Bush Jr, Nixon, and Reagan. that's a truth. except for Bush Sr., the Republican celebration has fed you that slogan and has no longer lived as a lot because it. even as are those "classic meanings" now no longer major? They have not followed them in extremely some time. what's the declaring? pay interest to moves, no longer words.

Labor unions act in their own self interest like all actors in the economy, and they want to maximize the number of members(jobs) in their industry.

Labor unions in industries that produce goods which have a large fraction of their sales in foreign markets support free trade because it expands their markets and increases jobs.

Labor unions in industries that produce goods which have a large fraction of their sales in domestic markets and face competition from foreign firms oppose free trade because imports will reduce their market share and reduce jobs.

This decision is based on whichever stance supports their greed best. Theirs is an organization that does not fairly reward or recognize achievement. Now you know why Toyota now sells more cars than GM. Bottom line answer...greed
