Yes. Your eye lens acts like a magnifying glass, concentrating the suns rays on your retina (the photo-sensitive lining in the back of the eye) and burning a hole where your optic nerve ends.

Sun will take away the moisture from your eyes. So if you look at the sun for very long, your eyes will dry up. In the long run, due to dryness, the eyes may turn blind.

You can go blind by looking at the sun for a short time.
And you can damage your eyes by looking for just seconds.

Haha this question made me snort! do not STARE on the solar! no matter if that's only for some seconds you're nevertheless unfavorable your eye cells. it isn't ordinary to in ordinary words "damage your eyes slightly" from staring on the solar, you're both no longer going to do any damage or that's going to be better than "slightly" and also you'll finally end up blind. that's the likely result. maximum persons who want glasses are born with it, they don't stand there staring on the solar for a lengthy time period! when you're that keen about glasses then get some with fake lenses in only don't be stupid and stare on the solar you'll finally end up thoroughly blind!!!

yes because the light that is focused on your retina is so bright it will burn the area and you will lose you vision. The reason too, they say not to look at an eclipse is that the damaging rays are still coming through (the UV) but because it is so dim it is tempting to look at it for longer periods thus hurting your retina more.
