Maybe you could research recycling plants. Some people believe that while recycling in itself is a good thing, the plants that handle recycling actually contribute to pollution. Therefore, if they cause pollution, aren't they also contributing to destruction of the environment? Also, while people are encouraged to recycle and many cities or towns have penalties for not abiding by the law, there is no real incentive to comply with the law. The goods or materials that are made form recycled goods, are not proven to be any cheaper than the regular goods. Therefore, some people, ask why should they bother? Why should they go through all that trouble?

The problem is that the benefits of recycling are still far from clear. While some products have been recycled or reused routinely for years (aluminum, paper for newsprint and water, for example), in each instance there has been a clear economic case for doing so. It is likely that further recycling, at least in Britain, will continue to be more expensive than landfill or incineration - unless the government artificially doctors the market. I guess cost borne by the taxpayer versus ecological benefits would be the topic?!?
