My friend, let me remind you of 1 John 3:1: "How great is the love of the Father has lavished on me that I should be called His child."
God has deemed us all worthy to be called His child, it is up to us to choose Jesus and accept being His. If you have a child and he denies you and runs away he is still no less your son and you will grieve it and long for him. Such is the love of God that He calls us His and worthy of His all comsuming affection whether we turn our back or run to Him. He desires that none should perish but find ever lasting life in Him.
