The chevy cavalier would be a great car.Good MPG good ride and built chevy tough.Lots of them out there.2door and 4doors and lotts of colors to choose from. Best of luck on your first car and remember safety allways first.

Toyota Echo
The Echo is really easy to handle, is great on gas, and is easily maintained. I would recommend this car to any first time driver/car owner. It looks small on the outside but is rather roomy on the inside. The price is right also.
