The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. It's a great story and alot of time and effort went into making the movie. :)

When I fall in love with a movie, it's because there's how most people see the movie and then there's the stuff that people can read into. Like how Shrek is for kids but there is some Adult humor in there that kids wouldn't get.

Or I enjoy watching an actor. I'll watch anything with Johnny Depp in it at least once and he's got a sense of humor that comes out a little in every movie he's ever done.

PotC, Ocean's 11/12 and X-Men 2 I love for their sound tracks....

It all depends really.

I have always been a huge Star Wars fan. Admittedly so, most of the acting all 6 movies was poor. However, George Lucas'es skills in storytelling seem to pull the audience in to the point where, bad acting or not, the audience feels a connection to the characters.

I also liked the Pirates trilogy, but the acting in those movies was much better than Star Wars.

Ultimately, though, my favorite movies are comedies... stories that are interesting but told in a funny way. Some of my favorites are Grandma's Boy, Van Wilder, Not Another Teenage Movie, etc.

East of Eden (James Dean starred in it) Its just a lovely film, based from the book from the same title. Though the movie doesn't cover the whole. The twins are Aaron and Caleb(Cal...James Deans character) its kind of like Cain and Abel. Fighting for their father's love, the love of a girl, and finding out that mother is a little unsavory and alive. Its a sweet film and I love the acting in it.

The Outsiders
One of my fave's! also based on a book. I think it was very well written for a teenage girl , writing about boys from a boys point of view. its in the early 60's, about the greasers(the kids on the "wrong" side of the tracks) and the socies (sp?) the kids that have everything. THey always get in to fights, rumbles. Its about Ponyboy, Sodapop and their older brother Daryl who has to raise the two younger one after their parents died in an accident, and about all their friends.

Bridget Jones's Diaries...
I mean, who can't relate to Bridget? Some awful boyfriend, crappy job, nagging mother, loving father ;) Its so great.

Romeo & Juliet the orginal and the 1996 version with Leo:)
Both were beautifully directed, and its a timeless love story.

You've Got Mail for all the reasons you listed.

Acting: I love Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks and I think they were both wonderful in the movie, they have a very believable chemistry
Soundtrack: It's a nice mix of 60's and 70's pop with some modern day (late 90s) light rock
Plot: I think it is the perfect love story
Directing: Excellent directing, everything is perfect
Costumes: Brilliant...suits for him business casual for her, it all fits together wonderfully while reflecting their contrasting personalities
Connection: I wish this were my life, it's so romantic: "I wanted it to be you" and then they kiss, it is such a great movie, I love it!

Shawshank redemption, Touching which is rare.
Acting is superb, not once do u question the role playing.
the film takes the The 'innocent man in prison" theme and bends it at a different angle. not just crusade for freedom but about personal cost of adapting to prison life and how some inmates lose ability to survive.
All of what u mentioned is of the best quality, soundtrack goes with film at perfect pace

The Trouble With Harry. This is a hilarious Hitchcock movie. It not only has superb actors and a great plot and plot development but the scenery is exceptional. It is probably the best movie that he ever made and one of the best movies ever made. (It gets you to think about some things too).

I liked the first and third Matrix movies. The movies were great, plus I liked the concept of self sacrifice.
I also like the Punisher. I liked the action, the wanting to take justice into your own hands when the ones who are supposed to act don't.
I liked all Spiderman and X-Men movies!! There is something about Marvel action movies!!!
I also like all Lord of the Rings movies!!
I like the Die Hard movies, I can't wait for Live Free or Die Hard!!
Don't forget Gladiator!!!

Home for the Holidays
Had a great cast, not very popular but very funny. It's about a family that gets together for Thanksgiving. It's just fun to watch and laugh at the characters that are much like our own family members.

for all the reasons you mention above

The acting was unbelievable , The plot second to none , costume design , fanstastic.and the direction by FFC was simply the best in history
