Huey Long's "two chickens in every pot" politics resulted in a large following during the depression. His politics and political savvy positioned him as a strong opponent to Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the next presidential election.

There is no doubt that he was an egotist and corrupt politician, but he brought more roads and bridges to Louisiana than anyone else and he did have a way with the common man. His brand of socialism would be called leftist today, and his 'modus operandi' was as clever as Lyndon B. Johnson's.

i'd say he had a very intresting point of view, even though most of the ppl including wealthy thought he was kinda' crazy for his wealth re-distribution plan to end poverty which was a greay idea consiedering that the great depression was happening at the time. (mean't good but ended up as a lunatic)
