Many will be like the robots we see in movies; look like people, but machines with computer brains.
Many will no longer be in lap top boxes or setting on our desks. They will be wired into our houses, our cars, our attache cases, our purses, our school desks, and our work desks.
Future computers will be compatable to our tissue. So they will be placed in our bodies, increasing greatly our mental abilities.
We will, literally, if you watch Star Trek, become the "Borg."

Despite conceptualizations of the "global village", technology is providing more and more opportuniites to become connected at a distance. Virtual reality will become more integrated into the lives of people, removing the need for human interaction. Computers will become the intermediaries between humans.
The current trend of technology is to have personal computers that actually travel with us -- similar to blue tooth or cell phone technology.
As many people still fear computers and many don't know how to type, interfaces will improve to provide greater ease of use. Many colleges and universities currently offer software that allows the computer to do some of the work that would traditionally be done through interaction with individuals.
In fact, I can log into my university library and do my research from home. I don't need to speak to a librarian. For the typing challenged, technology like voice/speech recognition is becoming more common.
