Being a LIFE LONG Jets fan I can tell you YES he is badly underrated! Look at Pedro Martinez, he was considering retirement when he tore his rotator cuff, and hes one of the best pitchers in the MLB. Pennington can throw a deep ball cuz ive seen it. Its just that hes had so many issues health wise. Yes he is underrated because he starts QB in the same divison with the Patriots and even in the TOUGH AFC and still makes the playoffs. He got them there last year behind a rookie center and a rookie tackle protecting his blind side. Along with NO running back and a first year head coach, and a defense that was switching to a 3-4 so that kept him on the field longer. Chad deserves better support!

there replaced into yet another guy as quickly as who had a intense-high quality of completion fee, yet often threw 5-10 backyard passes - Joe Montana. no longer saying Pennington is everywhere close to that good, however the Jets can win video games by controlling the clock and playing a smothering D. each and every bypass can not be a bomb and in the event that they have been, somebody could ultimately in basic terms cover Laverneus Coles, then what? For the main section, Pennington isn't recognized as everywhere close to a eye-catching-teir QB, so how can he be overvalued? he's extremely even rated in any respect.

Chad Pennington has done quite well despite his injuries. However, he's not going to beat anyone with just his arm. Defenses can cheat a little because they know Pennington doesn't have the arm strength to kill them long. I think what makes his great is that he's a good leader and well-respected in the locker room. Jets have to get a running game or they're going to eventually get killed. They got by last year but I can't see them doing that consistently.

Yeah he's an underrated QB, there are a few of them in the AFC East now with him and Trent Green going to Miami. As far as his surgery and the kids you know, I'm sure they didn't have the same class of doctor operatinf on them or the luxury of an NFL training and recovery program to help them along.

I would not say underrated, but not looked at as a good qb. I believe from watching him play he is a very good qb. The problem I have seen is he can be inconsistent and at times tries to force the issue. I know you may say he did not have much help, but if you look at Tom Brady this past year it didn't seem like he did on offense at least but he was able to get the job done. Chad is a good qb, but is inconsistent at times overshadowing his good play.

I think that he is still a good QB and showed he can play the same after a possible career ending injury...He could easily lead the Jets to the SuperBowl with the right parts.

He is underrated, but as we saw in the playoffs last year, his arm is still subpar. But he is gutty, a good competitor and field general. One would expect such quality from a Marshall player, just like the Patriots' Moss and Troy Brown.

I think he is the next best QB in the AFC East behind Tom Brady...I guess thats not saying much when the other two are JP Losman and.........Well, if the Dolphins are starting Trent Green, I think he is still pretty good too...I dunno...but yes, I think he gets overshadowed by flashier or more charismatic QBs...

Yes. He is a very good, very underrated, quarterback. He has proven that he knows how to win, no matter what type of talent he has around him.

he's very overrated. Injured basically every year of his career, never thrown for over 4,000 yards. Marc Bulger is better
