my family is thinking of going to the diminican republic. is there anything i should do or stay away from?

oh by the way it is all closed in resort

I was just there in April. The resort we stayed at was absolutely gorgeous, the staff was wonderful too. The food wasn't that great but it was edible. It's a beautiful island, you just have to use common sense. There is a lot of poverty. I wouldn't advise leaving your resort at all, even on an excursion, but that's up to you. Bring lots of dollar bills with you. A few dollars to them is a lot of money, tip the staff well, and they will treat you very well. Don't drink any water, not even to brush your teeth. They provide you with bottled water. Bring lots of sunscreen and have fun. That's all I can think of.

there's a cigar factory there and fields and fields of sugar cane to see and eat. My hubby and I went on our honeymoon and honestly I'd give it a C while my husband would give it an F-.
