I know, I'm reaching here...but I do remember certain people predicting the U.S. not lasting much longer than the amount of time that the Roman Empire did. And as the guys in my shop watch Jerry Springer, and the people in the audience shout Jerry, Jerry!, I wonder how close this is to the gladiator events, where people were sacrificed (in this case respect and dang, can't think of the other word.....linked to self respect..), to the shouts and response of the crowd.

Good Question... and good thought behind.
Lets hope it will last longer, the World need a stong American nation, and it can't be stong if the family unit is so broken.
If the Jerry Springer show is any indication of life in America, I doubt that America will have a long life.
I pray that it this Show does not indicate the morals of all of America.

As I've said before, shows like Jerry Springer are designed to attract the baser human population. Aka rednecks. I think if people wouldn't morally object to people killing one another, we'd be seeing gladiators. But in this politically correct day and age, that would never happen. Instead, we have Jerry. And I think the other word you're looking for is dignity. These people have none, and don't care about it as long as they can get their 15 minutes of fame. That's what this world has come to. Accept it or don't, it's up to you. I personally just don't watch those shows. It gives me a bloody headache!

Watching the Jerry Springer show is like having the Enquirer come to life.
It is a waste of time, just like some of the other reality/talk shows on the television.
I don't know if he heralds the end of the world.

wow, been watching the running man, have we?
the only reason this garbage is on is because there is a market for it. trash likes trash. once these shows cross the line, that's when the fcc comes in and does their little dance (springer fights no longer shown on regular tv). remember the backlash when that dude had the crush with the other guy and brought him on jones jones? then came the trial, and all the yip yap about responsibility. no more jones right?
