1] measure around your chest, directly under breasts, and add 5 inches - this is your band size.
2] measure around the fullest part of the bust, and calculate how much bigger the difference is.
ex: 29 + 5 inches = 34 band size
35 inches - 34 = 1 inch, or an 'A' cup
2" = B
3" = C
4" = D, etc.

34 is the measurement just below your boobs and a (etc), is the amount of inches difference around your boobs (eg a 1 inch b 2 inch c 3 inch, but i dont know if it actually starts at 1 inch). thats what i heard on what not to wear (tlc) when the one girl went for a bra fitting, so that should be accurate hope it helps!

The number is the distance around your chest right under your breasts. The letter is your cup size.
If you want to be properly fitted, I really would suggest going to speciality lingerie store. They can size you properly. I have tried to do it myself, and it don't work too well. They are trained at lingerie stores.
