Probably yes, since physicists succeeded in doing what the chemists never could--transmuting elements. :)

If your question involves eye of newt or humours or any of that medievil stuff, though, it definitely belongs in chemistry ;)

Edit: so what's the question--now I'm curious

It's more closely related to chemistry, but it's fake, so real chemists aren't going to be much help. If you need to find out about the history of alchemy for a paper or something, you might try the Social Science topic.

Actually there was a presentation on PBS Nova series on Newton in which they discussed his experiments in optics and the laws of motion.

They also mentioned Newton's fascination with alchemy and his intent on creating the philosophers stone.

I have seen the segment a few times on PBS and they will probably show it again. If you go to pbs.org or type Nova into Yahoo you might be able to see when they are going to show it again.

P.S. Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is an interesting read
but don't get crazy with it.

Classic Alchemy does not belong in the sciences anymore...transmutation is only done through nuclear reactions, so the answer to your question is yes.

No. Alchemy is like astrology, it served it's purpose through history and helped us get where we are today, but anyone who hangs onto it is deluded.
