First thing you need to do is not to bother getting an agent. Get yourself some training and as much experience as you can. Depending on where you live, go audition for short films, low-budget, student projects, anything you can get your hands on. Build a decent resume. After that look for an agent. I recommend getting someone low to mid level. If you get someone that is in a top agency, you will most likely be forgotten given that there are more important actors represented there. Use this site to check that the agency is licensed and check BBB for any complaints.

Well, I have given this essay on Yahoo answers about 7 times. I'll give you the basics, but for details, look to my other answers and type that in above. It says search for questions, type that in there will be like 2,000 questions will thousands of long, descriptive answers. Move to LA, get headshots and resume, get an agent and then get acting classes. Always be prepared.
If you do that I would consider homeschool. Then if you want to know how, what to do and all that look above.
