His age doesn't help, dosages are based on weight. Give your doc a call and he'll look it up on a chart for you.

First, you may want to call your doctor and double check, but this is what I do: Use infants or childrens Tylenol (liquid, obviously) and give him about 1 ml (1/4 tsp). Since he's only 2 months he'll probably spit a bit of it back out, but what he does swallow should be enough. I don't know how much he weighs, but I estimated that off of around 10-12 lbs given what my doctors told me for my 3 children. If you look at the bottle and it says something like for a child 24 lbs 1 tsp, then you'd give 1/2 a tsp for 12 lbs, 1/4 tsp for 6 lbs., but with a baby I always go with the lowest possible dosage and if I need to I will give a little more later (when the 4-6 hours is up). I've only got the Children's Motrin right now, so thats the label I referred to, but check the bottle and do the math from what YOU have. I found that with my baby after she got her shots and I gave her the Tylenol she fell asleep really quickly (I gave her 1/4 tsp, she was about the same age as your son). I don't know if it relieved the pain all that much (she had shots in both legs and they were really tender, she cried every time I moved her :( ), but it did help her sleep it off!

Give him half of the dropper that is in the infant Tylenol. That's what my pediatrician recommended. When he's about 6 months old, you can give him the full dose. My doctor also recommended giving him the Tylenol about 15 minutes BEFORE the shots so it will ease some of the afterpain and make him rest easier after the shots. I've done this every time, and it's worked really well. Be sure to check with your doctor, though, because he is the final authority on that. Hope this helps! :-)

The dosage is based on their weight. My 2 month old daughter weighed 10 pounds 11 ounces and I gave her 4 ml every 4 to 6 hours.

Go here for an infant dosing chart for tylenol:

Dr. Sears' Medicine Cabinet is invaluable when it comes to giving infants medications. He advises dosing by the infant's weight instead of age, which is much more effective.

You should give him infant tylenol. If its not listed on the bottle you should consult your doctor. It is very easy to overdose with these things.
